Keracare Straightening System Review
Keracare Straightening System
Hello again everyone, and welcome to my blog. In my recent search for great new products, I decided one day to go to Sally Beauty to see what was going on there. As usual, they had some lovely products on display, but the one thing that I noticed this time was that they had a clearance on some of their Kera Care Products.
For those who don’t know, Kera Care is a high-end hair brand that caters to those who may have relaxed or natural hair. I remember when I was first introduced to Kera Care when I was younger and was visiting a stylist who also gave me relaxers when they were so popular years ago. So when I first tried their products, I was very impressed. And being that I had bone straight relaxed hair, I could see the difference that it made my hair feel.
I especially loved their humecto moisturizing conditioner.
Now that everyone has fallen under the hype of natural hair, so many new hair/beauty products and brands have created new innovative products for natural hair. But, unfortunately, you can quickly lose your way and spend hundreds of dollars on the next best thing in the hair care industry.
So, when I noticed that Kera Care was clearing out some of its items, I decided to take a trip back down memory lane and give them another try.
I didn’t buy their traditional moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, but I saw that they had the keracare thermal wonder line on display this time. At first, I wondered why they were on sale. Did they do something wrong? Or was the product not delivering anymore? And were they discontinuing this line? So many questions popped into my mind, but I took advantage and purchased the Thermal Wonder Cream Cleansing Shampoo and the Thermal Wonder Pre-Poo Conditioner (which was on sale for only $2.29, by the way!)
The only product missing was the Thermal Wonder 6-in-1 Thermal Protector, a hair and thermal spray that you apply at the very end. I had to buy this product at a regular price online and from the united states. Unfortunately, this product is also tough to find and delivery times may vary and be inconvenient.. That’s why I had to resort to the internet, BTW.
At first, I was skeptical about trying another straightening system on my hair and thought my trusty Frizz Ease would do the trick. Frizz Ease has been my regular go-to for straightening natural hair, and I didn’t think I could find something like it at the drugstore.
The Kera Care Thermal wonder line is similar to the John Freida Frizz ease line but involves fewer steps. I think that I have found a new favorite which is the Thermal Wonder, mainly because I found that my hair was silkier after flat ironing it.
Some of the ingredients in this line are : moringa oleifera seed oil sclerocarya birrea seed oil lagenaria sphaerica seed oil, oil avena sativa kernel, oil camellia sinensis leaf, benzyl salicylate butylphenyl methylpropional, product information, camellia sinensis leaf powder, seed oil avena sativa
The first step is to apply the pre-poo, a gentle pre-shampoo, to cleanse and prep the hair for the shampoo. I also had to apply some more pre-poo to my hair after shampooing it because it left it very dry. Follow all the steps and products to straighten your hair and get salon results.
Also, an extra tip when using the pre-poo would be to try not to use all of the contents in the packet. It comes with many products and is enough for 2 applications, so try to save it for another wash day.
Not to mention, it also has a pleasant smell! It has an essence of vanilla and chocolate and smells like one of my favorite perfumes, Prada Candy Night. You can read more about it here.
The process is straightforward and similar to the John Freida frizz ease line. The only thing I found strange was that you must apply the Thermal Wonder 6-in1 Thermal protector to blow-dried hair and in small sections. It also acts as a leave in conditioner for the hair and helps sealing the cuticles and also heat protection. Hence the name 6 in 1 . I also found that the Thermal protector spray is small and may only last for 4 uses.
Overall I am pleased with the results. I must add that I found the Thermal Wonder shampoo very drying, and I had to apply the pre-poo to my hair to detangle it after shampooing.
Next up, I want to give Mizani a try and try their press agent, which according to the product detail is a smoothing, and frizz control line. They obviously must be very similar in results, but I want to compare the two and give my final thoughts on these high-end products.
Now that I have shared my opinion of this great product, I hope they continue this line. Wearing a straight style has always been challenging using this system. Try it for yourself. Whether natural or relaxed, I’m sure you’ll love it!
