How to Achieve the Perfect Slicked Back Ponytail
Recently I dabbled with my hair and decided to try a slicked-back ponytail. I did not want the average ponytail you would wear on a casual day. However, I am referring to the kind of slick ponytail that you would style for a special occasion or a photo.
My Story
A slicked back ponytail is excellent for those who want a style change in their hair care regime. For me, after I have worn a protective style for three weeks, what I like to do is wash, then, blow-dry/flatiron the hair put it in a slicked back ponytail, and add a straight or curly ponytail since my hair is still short.
I usually crave a style change after wearing my hair in a protective style for months. Moreover, this is an excellent time for me too. Although I style my hair in a slicked back ponytail, I tend only to leave it in this style for about one week because I am so focused on growing my hair back to mid-back length.
Alternatively, a slicked back ponytail is excellent for those trying to grow their hair out or looking for something simple to the sport.
I have also failed at the slicked-back ponytail and wondered what I could have done. Wrong There were many things that I learned about achieving this hairstyle flawlessly. I am here to break down what I did to accomplish this look successfully including the best products to slick hair back in this slick back hair tutorial.

How to Do a Slicked Back Hairstyle
First, you want to ensure you are styling freshly washed hair. Then, to make the ponytail even sleeker, you can blow dry and straighten the hair with a flat iron. There will be no lumps or bumps in the sleek ponytail.
From here, you want to take a generous amount of the best gel for ponytail which is the eco styling gel and distribute it throughout the hair. Then, apply the beeswax to slick your hair back with the outer layer of the hair forming the ponytail using a slick bun brush.
After securing the ponytail, you will want to use the heat from a blow dryer to lock in the hold from the gel and fan it over the ponytail.
To add even more flair, you can add a hair piece like a curly hair ponytail or wavy ponytail by wrapping it around the ponytail holder.
The most challenging product I had a hard time withing out was the beeswax. However, if you are like me and want the style to be the way it looks from the salon, all you must do to wash it out is by using Palmolive dish soap when you are switching up from a slicked back ponytail. Regular clarifying shampoo will not cut it. Furthermore, the palm olive will all the beeswax and grease out.
I hope this post helped you in any way to achieve a slicked-back ponytail with ease. Do not forget to wrap your hair in a hair-wrapping scarf at night to keep the hair in place and use a 22 inch ponytail when styling… and here is the video that I promised to help you out in achieving a slicked back ponytail.
