Ladies, I have another review for you. In this blog post, I will review the Loreal steampod 4.0. I have been wanting to try this tool for some time now. I was introduced to this hair tool in hair school, not too long ago. I was the Ginny Pig, and my instructor wanted to demo the tool on my hair. I will discuss more about my experience at the hair school/salon later in this blog.
But to the point: I was in awe of the results. I got smooth and shiny hair after the session was complete. So if you’re interested in my thoughts on this product, keep reading.
The Steampod is a steam-powered styler that straightens and styles hair using advanced steam technology, including high pressure steam and Steampod heating plates. This innovative combination infuses water molecules into the hair cuticle for a smoother finish, allowing you to achieve faster, smoother results at lower heat settings compared to traditional flat irons. The steam surrounds hair for gentle, even distribution, helping to reduce breakage and control frizz while achieving sleek or wavy styles. The integrated, removable comb detangles hair as you style, ensuring even tension and better results, while intelligent heat control maintains steady distribution and even pressure for optimal styling.
To use the L’Oréal Steampod, simply fill the built-in water tank with filtered water and adjust the heat to your preferred setting before styling. Always follow the correct direction indicated by the arrows (pointing down) for optimal results and to prevent damage.
How does it work? The L’Oréal Steampod features a built-in, leak-free water tank that must be filled before use, allowing for continuous steam production so you can style a full head of hair without frequent refills. The device offers three heat settings ranging from 180°C to 210°C—be sure to adjust heat to your preferred setting for your hair type. Its steam technology styles hair without getting it wet. Compared to traditional flat irons, the Steampod causes 91% less breakage after 15 uses, is 2X faster and smoother, and provides up to 24 hours of frizz control. For best results, use the Steampod on dry hair, as it is not a hair-drying device—you may want to blow-dry your hair before styling with the Steampod hair straightener.
The SteamPod is versatile and suitable for all hair types, capable of creating smooth straight looks or soft, voluminous curls.
What I have learned from school about the steam pod is that it will not damage your hair. The steam, combined with heat, can be used to treat the hair by using the moisture it carries. So, instead of reaching for your hair steamer to steam-treat your hair after you wash it, the steam pod eliminates this step by delivering the steam treatment as you straighten your hair.
Before discovering the Steampod, I rarely straightened my hair because I was concerned about damage and breakage from traditional flat irons. The Steampod’s gentle steam technology changed that, allowing me to style my hair more often without worry. When I used the Steampod on my hair at home/salon, I could tell right away the difference in my hair’s condition. The integrated comb detangles hair as you style, making the process smoother and reducing breakage. My hair was so soft to the touch, and it felt moisturized and hydrated. The Steampod achieves optimal results, leaving hair silky and smooth rather than dry and brittle. Depending on your styling preference, it leaves hair perfectly straight or with a very natural looking result that appears effortless and authentic.
I also noticed less breakage in my hairbrushes and combs, and my hair would not snap if I ran my hair through my hair like it used to. There is also no burnt-hair smell after use.
I also wanted to mention the importance of using the Steampod serum alongside the Steampod. If you don’t, the press won’t last, and I noticed a drastic difference after using the serum. When I did not use the serum, the style only lasted 30 minutes before it would start frizzing again.
With the serum, my hair stayed smooth and sleek. I was even considering whether I should still do my yearly keratin treatment after these results. I probably won’t, because my hair was as smooth as the keratin treatment results when I used the serum.

The intelligent heat control checks temperature up to twice per second, providing steady distribution of heat for optimal results. The water tank is large enough to style a full head of hair without refilling, making it easy to achieve hassle-free waves or a sleek, straight look in one session. Simply select your preferred temperature, let the SteamPod heat up, and you’re ready to get started on your desired style.
The SteamPod offers versatile styling options, allowing you to achieve both professional straightening and natural waves with ease. For straightening hair, section your hair into small parts and glide the SteamPod slowly from root to tip, ensuring the arrows on the tool point downward. The removable comb detangles hair as you go, while the high-pressure steam and even pressure from the plates help reduce breakage and deliver a soft, smooth finish.
To create waves, start by pre-combing and sectioning your hair. Place a small section in the middle of the plates, wrap it around the tool, and rotate the SteamPod as you glide it slowly downward—always keeping the arrows pointing down for best results. Allow the waves to cool before gently shaking or brushing them out for a very natural looking result. The SteamPod’s steam technology and integrated comb work together to create hassle-free waves and a smooth, shiny texture, whether your hair is thin or thick.

For myself, I would highly recommend the steam pod 4.0 to any curly girl struggling with frizzy hair. I no longer need a keratin treatment with the Loreal Steampod serum in conjunction with the Steampod 4.0.
I would not purchase or use the Steampod without the serum. You need the serum for this tool to work. I also tried other serums, such as Biosilk and Chi Silk Infusion, to no avail. I must emphasize that you must use the steam pod serum for it to work. Sorry for my rant, but I truly love this product and want the best for my readers, as a hairstylist-in-training.
