The Ultimate Guide to Texlaxed Hair Care

how to care for texlaxed hair

As a hair care enthusiast, I have discovered the best option for my hair in terms of maintenance and versatility. My strands are currently texturized (aka texlaxed). With this option, I get the best of both worlds: natural and relaxed. With my texturized hair, I can rock natural styles with a looser curl pattern and smooth my tresses when I feel the need to.

All, I want to share an idea for caring for relaxed hair. Texlaxing hair requires more maintenance than natural tresses, but less than relaxed hair. In this blog post, I will cover how texlax hair thrives with proper care, including oil and protein treatments. is, how to maintain it, and why conditioning it is essential for achieving optimal length. I hope you enjoy

What is Texlaxed Hair

With 4c texlaxed hair, you get the best of both worlds, i.e., natural and relaxed, especially when you incorporate a seal and cream routine. You may wonder what is texlaxing your hair? Partially relaxed hair is processed with the same chemical used as a relaxer, but it is much milder and may contain more conditioner than usual. This allows the chemicals to break down the curl pattern during the relaxing process slowly. In the end, you will still have your curl pattern, but it will be more elongated and more defined.

With texlaxed 4a hair comes more maintenance to keep this style up, including regular protein treatments. You will spend less time on your hair than with natural hair, and you will realize that texlaxing is easier to manage.

Because the hair is chemically altered, it becomes weaker and more prone to breakage. This is where hair maintenance comes into play. It’s important to maintain it in between touch-ups to avoid hair loss and damage. I will discuss suggestions later in the post.

Building a Healthy Wash Routine with Shampoo on Wash Day

If you have hair that is texlaxed, you might be wondering how often you should wash it. The washing frequency is very similar to that of a natural hair regimen, especially on wash day. You should wash your hair at least every two weeks to keep it healthy.

When choosing a good shampoo, I would recommend a strengthening shampoo, such as Matrix Instacure. I’ve learned that by using a strengthening shampoo, you can skip conditioning your hair twice with protein and then moisture.

The shampoo adds the right amount of strength to the strands and lets you follow up with a good moisturizing conditioner afterward, so no more hopping in and out of the shower to condition your hair. Everything can be done in two steps in the shower.

The Importance of Conditioning: The foundation of How to Care for Texlaxed Hair

As I stated earlier, this hair routine simplifies everything into a single process in the shower. When choosing a moisturizing conditioner, make sure it is labeled as a moisture conditioner. A deep conditioning treatment is not necessary for the first five washes because it can damage the strands if overapplied. One of my favorite conditioners now is the Vegamour Hyd8 conditioner, which also promotes hair growth.

I like to leave it in for at least two minutes. Regular conditioners do not need to be left on for long, as they are supposed to help soften the strands and make detangling easier. When you’re done with the conditioning process, rinse it out in the shower and proceed to the next step.

Detangling and Daily Handling

Now that you have rinsed out the conditioner, you must detangle your hair in sections. I would recommend a wide-tooth comb to help with the tangles.

Once the hair is properly detangled, you can opt for a wash and go texlaxed hair or a straight style. With a wash-and-go, you may need additional styling tools and texlaxed hair products can be enhanced with oil for better hydration. To maintain the style and define your curls, consider using a cream or oil. I personally like to use the Tangle Teezer to define my curls, Eco Styler gel, and a foam styler, if you were wondering.

For optimal results, ensure to clarify your hair regularly. Straightening texlaxed hairstyles can be achieved with the right cream and technique. I would highly recommend the L’Oréal Steam Pod as it is one of the healthiest options for your hair. The steam pod allows you to give your hair a steam treatment while straightening it. You will notice less breakage using this tool and healthier hair. Wavy talk also carries a more affordable steam straightener called the Steam Sesh flat iron. Always make sure you are also using a heat protectant/serum before applying heat to the hair.

Nighttime and Long-Term Maintenance

Now that you know the basics of your hair-washing routine for chemically processed hair, it is essential to maintain your hair at night. Invest in a satin pillowcase or a satin bonnet to sleep in at night. When you use these tools, they prevent breakage in hair, and fabrics won’t snag your hair as you sleep.

You also should have a trimming schedule and try to trim your hair at least twice a year with professional shears. My favorite place to go for trims is Great Clips. They are very affordable, and they get the job done in the end.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed this article on wash day routines for texlaxed hair and how to care for texlaxed hair. Having chemically treated hair requires maintenance to keep it healthy and long. In this blog post, I covered how often to wash and condition your hair, how to detangle it, and styling options for your hair journey, including how to use a dryer.

It is also important to maintain hair at night and have a good relaxed hair regimen. Trim your hair at least twice a year and follow this routine throughout your journey to maintain healthy texlaxed hair.
